Work involves the evaluation of floodplain regulations (City Ordinance Article 62 and applicable Codes of Federal Regulations) as it relates to the National Flood Insurance Program and activities related to floodplain management and development for flood loss reduction. Work involves frequent contacts with federal, state and local officials, public agencies, community and civic groups, City departments and other individuals or organizations. Work includes conducting special studies, analysis, reviews and participating in workshops and conferences.
Processes and manages Floodplain Development Permits (FDP) which includes, but is not limited to, planning, mapping and financial review. Conducts field inspections as it relates to floodplain development and flooding. Maintains pertinent records, documents, maps, data, information and files, both hardcopy and electronic as applicable, to sustain and/or advance the City's participation in the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and the Community Rating System (CRS).
